Spin Street in Cape Town, South Africa was once where a slave auction tree stood. The tree, an imported fir tree from Europe, marked the ritual of slave auctioning during cape slavery (1652–1834) under Dutch and British rule. In personifying the fir tree as the coloniser, the model projection tries to reveal the hidden realities that took place on Spin Street in the past.
